Recent Events

The Grade 7 & 8 classes had a Wake-A-Thon on June 3.  Now that all the money has been collected we are very proud to announce that they raised just over $2,000.00.  Great job guys and gals and to all the parents who volunteered to stay awake with the kids.  A great job done by all.

Sandyview Farms is done for the year.  We thank them for allowing our group to be on the fundraising list for the past 2 years.  This year just over $1,550.00 was raised.  Thank you to all who saved those dates and went and did some shopping.

The Helping Hands at the Darwell Store has raised over $75.00 and they will stay at the Darwell Store as long as they are selling.

There was also $35.00 in the donation jar at the Darwell Restaurant.

Great job everyone.  Everyone remember that all of this could not be done without the amazing support of this community and surrounding area.  We are still fundraising and looking for people to help on our build day September 24, 2011.  So if you happen to be reading this and have not signed up to come and help on that day please Join The Cause.

Summer Events

Hello everyone, the Darwell Betterment has been busy finalizing playground designs and planning more fundraising activities over the summer.  We believe that we have come up with a wonderful design that will be lots of fun for all ages.

We still have a ways to go to reach our goal so that all of this can become a reality on September 24, 2011, so over the summer we will all still be working hard.  We have some exiting events and fundraisers coming up this summer and hope that this amazing community and surrounding areas will be there helping us along the way.

Helping Hands - there are hands available for purchase at the Darwell Store for $1.00 or whatever amount you wish to donate.  They will then be put with all the hands from the kids at the school and used as a ribbon for our opening ceremony.

Donation Jar - there is a donation jar at the Darwell Restaurant, if you go for coffee think about throwing your change in the jar.  Every bit helps.

T-Shirts - On August 14, 2011 we will be selling t-shirts at the Tractor Pull.  A portion of the money from the shirts will go the Betterment.  So save your t-shirt buying until Sunday's pull to help support the Betterment.

Dance - On August 20, 2011 we will be holding an adult only dance at the Lake Isle Hall.  As this is the Fair weekend we are expecting a wonderful turn out.  Doors will open at 7:30p.m. and tickets will be available at the door for $10.00.  Please come out and have some fun.

Bricks - we will be selling bricks that can be engraved.  We as that you "Help us Pave the way to our Playground".  They will be sold in 4x8 for $30.00, 8x8 for $50.00 and 12x12 for $150.00.  Have your family or company remembered forever at our new playground.  If you have any questions with respect to the purchase of bricks please contact Lisa Fearnley at 780-892-2770.

Once the kids return to school they will be having a Spelling Bee as well as selling the Student Union Ticket Packs for $20.00.

Please keep checking back for more updates.

Helping Hands

There are paper hands available for purchase at the Darwell Store.  Please buy a hand and help us continue towards our dream of a playground and picnic area at the Darwell School.  When you purchase a paper hand it will be included with all of the hands from the children of Darwell School and be used as the ribbon for our opening ceremony on our build day which is September 24, 2011.

Talent Show Pictures

Sorry this has taken so long, but I hope everyone enjoys the pictures from the Darwell Talent Night 2011...

Keeping you Informed

We are all very busy this time of year but the Darwell Betterment keeps on trying to come up with fundraising ideas to make this project a reality.  This is not just about a playground for all of us.  It is about this community and the wonderful people who live in it.  It is about teaching our children the value of hard work and that together we can achieve anything we put our hearts into.

We would like to accomplish so much more then the playground, we would love a picnic area for families to come and enjoy an afternoon with their family.  A community garden to teach the children how to grow and care for something and to involve other members of the community with the children.

The Grade 7 & 8 class held a Wake-A-Thon on Friday.  We do not have the numbers in yet but it was sounding very promising.

There are hands available for purchase at the Darwell Store and they will then be added to the children's hand prints and used as the ribbon on our build day September 24, 2011.

Keep looking in for updates on what we are working on next or where you can come out and meet some of our hard working members.  Please remember that just because it is summer holidays for the kids we will still be working very hard all summer.  We thank each and everyone of you who has helped us get that much closer to seeing our dreams become reality.
